High end comparison facors
The weight given to image resolution in high end cameras is disproportionate. At some point the resolution is less important than other factors of image quality. When comparing the D3s to the EOS 1D mkIV it seems to rank sheer resolution above sensor size. Also at this level of image capture, it needs to be noted that HDV should be on a sliding scale of importance. It seems that some of these comparisons follow the thinking of Canon market guides rather than photographer needs and uses

Hi Charlie, we've launched a huge update to http://snapsort.com, you can read more here:
http://blog.snapsort.com/2010/06/snap...
It now takes into account image quality for DSLRs using DxOMark benchmarks, and also does much more comprehensive comparisons, check it out!

You know what, I'm a Nikon shooter, I had the D3 for a while, but then downgraded to the D700, and I agree the D3s definitely should have won, its an awesome camera :)
Snapsort is completely unbiased, and the winner and loser are chosen by an algorithm. I agree with the flaws you've identified, we'll work on improving this.
We have some ideas how to improve this:
- We'll make it more transparent, so you can easily see why it thinks one is better than the other.
- We'll contextualize it in the future, so we'll indicate which is a winner in several different scenarios.
- We'll include more data (not just specs) in the comparisons
The reason I think the Canon 1D mkIV wins here is our algorithm is a bit biased towards movies, you notice the canon gets 5/5 for movies and the nikon gets 3.5/5.
Thanks for all the feedback. -

Charlie, any thoughts of Alex's ideas. Do you think these might address your concerns? We realize our algorithms aren't perfect and need work.
We have high hopes around customization, for instance one of the big things we're working on is the ability to describe your goals and needs so that we can contextualize things better.
If HD video just isn't important to you we should help you find the right camera based on those unique needs.
Thanks for the feedback! -
