Canon SD990IS and Canon A2200 errors
On the Canon PowerShot sd990IS the true resolution is not correct. Given the size of the sensor and pixel size I feel that its true resolution should be closer to that of the s90 which has the same size sensor but larger pixels and has a true resolution of 10 instead of the 14.6 true resolution listed on the sd990IS. Also the canon A2200 the specs says it has two memory slots when it doesn't and it says it doesn't have image stabilization when it really does have optical stabilization. I love your website and find the information to be very helpful but these are somethings I noticed in my research to not be correct.

Hi Steveo, thanks for pointing out these issues, let me go through them:
1. Snapsort calculates true resolution, its based on the sensor size and the resolution of the sensor. The value of 14.6MP is correct based on our calculation. The reason it gets a higher true resolution than the S90, even though it has the same size sensor, is because according to the calculation the S90 could be capturing higher resolution images if it had more pixels.
2. Good catch, we'll fix the 2 slot mistake on the Canon A2200.
3. Do you have a link that confirms that the Canon Powershot A2200 has optical image stabilization? I checked out Canon's page here:
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consume...
and I can't find any mention of it.

True resolution describes how much detail could be captured by the camera.
What you're pointing out is that the Canon S90 has larger pixels than the SD990IS, which is correct. I think the answer is that larger pixels are better for low light performance whereas more pixels are better to capture more detail (providing the sensor is large enough). -

For the A2200 image stabilization both Bestbuy and Amazon listed it having it...
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Canon+-+P...
http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Powershot...
But it appears you are correct and they are wrong according the the manual for the camera....

clearly states that the 3300 and 3200 have it but does not list the 2200.
